Regional multi-stakeholder network: AUSJAL impact on research, education, and policy-making in Latin America and its sustainable value creation

This dissertation is intended to give an open panorama about what international multi-stakeholder networks are, more specifically the characteristics of regional research networks, and the different types of networking collaboration. Once it has been detected the typification of the regional research network, it is presented the way in which they are able to remain active over the time and to create
sustainable value. First, it is explained the theory that serve to identify and comprehend the structure of the proposed network, AUSJAL. Then, it is presented the literature that is useful to identify their strategies and moves taken during their thirty three years of active life that have permitted the network to be consistent in its operations. After the theoretical framework, in a second section, it is presented the
methodology used for this research process: from the case study selection, passing
through the network presentation and ending with the data collection procedure. In a
third section, the data collected is analyzed and results are shown responding three investigative questions: what type of multi-stakeholder network is being studied?, how has the network been able to create value? and, what does sustainability mean and how has the network been able to create sustainable value?. After the analysis of AUSJAL specificities, conclusions and recommendations are made in a more general manner, in order to contribute to the understandings and future theory building about multi-stakeholder networks sustainability. Also, the limitations that were faced during the research period are exposed, so that they can be taken into consideration for the continuity of the research.
